Thursday Word Day: Troglodyte

Happy #ThursdayWordDay, word nerds!

If you thought a troglodyte was a dinosaur (like I did), this post is for you!

I was watching a YouTube video where a pretentious fellow called someone else a "mouth-breathing troglodyte," and I realized I didn't know any mouth-breathing dinosaurs, so I looking it up.

This is not a troglodyte. It's an Allosaurus.

Don't worry. That guy above isn't a troglodyte. He's an Allosaurus.

Dictionary.com says a troglodyte is "noun. 1) a prehistoric cave dweller. 2) a person of degraded, primitive, or brutal character. 3) a person living in seclusion. 4) a person unacquainted with affairs of the world. 5) an animal living underground."

So next time you run into someone who's just out of touch and you think, "Has this dude been living under a rock?!", there's your troglodyte. Too bad they're not extinct.
