Being an introvert is weird.

I’m totally comfortable putting my writing out there on the internet, but I hide when a stranger knocks on the door. I love being on stage, especially doing storytelling events, but talking to five people at a time at a party makes me nervous.

I’ve been admiring booktubers for awhile––book bloggers, or vloggers rather, who talk books primarily on YouTube––but I didn’t think I was great in front of the camera. I didn’t have the right equipment, the right lighting, any editing skills, and the idea of having to put on makeup and nice clothes just to talk about books ain’t my style.

Nonetheless, I’ve wanted to make videos for awhile, so the other day I just went for it. Raw, real, unedited, looking how I look any normal day. And I’m glad I did!

It was originally a Facebook Live in the Off the Beaten Shelf Book Nerds group. If you’re not in there, we’d love to have you!

I went on a massive book-buying binge and am showing you all the new books I got. It's a mix of fiction and nonfiction, fantasy and memoir, humor and literary. See what sounds good and add it to your TBR pile. xo See more bookish stuff at https://www.offthebeatenshelf.com/blog

Let me know what you think! Do you like videos? If so, what kind of videos do you want to see? Tell me in the comments!
